Headin' for Another Joint

This was an historic tour for me. In all of my time as a serious and many-show-attending Bob fan the span of time between when we last saw Bob and this trip was the longest I’ve had to (or chosen to, I suppose) endure. It was rough, but I guess it made it sweeter to see Bob this time. We started out this tour with a quick stop out in the Midwest. We’re both from the Midwest are in agreement that Bob plays top notch shows out there so we worked in an extended visit with friends too.

As I stood at work on Friday afternoon, my boss asked me if I was ready and excited for our upcoming trips. I explained to him that I wasn’t ready (cause I never am) and that I didn’t feel like I was seeing Bob the next day. Usually our trips start with one or both of us driving some long distance or flying a couple days prior to the actual show. I always feel like I need this separation to get into the groove of things. So when I woke up on Saturday morning at the time I usually do to go to work it sure felt different.

For me, looking at the sets and hearing from friends online and across the country we excruciating. Usually we find ourselves out on the road earlier in the summer, but this summer was different. This summer we were at the mercy of long travels to shows, job conflicts and plain bad timing. The trip down was beautiful. It’s always nice to get out of the fog and cold up here. We drove down 101 through the sun with a few stops off to visit wineries and do a bit of tasting.
